In their words

“The app in itself is absolutely amazing, and everything I've been looking for. It does everything it claims exceptionally well. However, there is one issue that's a deal breaker for me. The price. The subscription is very, very expensive, making it completely out of question for students and other people with limited budget. I wish there were more flexible pricing options for the subscription... something in between the free and the completely full version that would be more affordable. Cheers!”

“When it works, it's great. But there are too many glitches and this is coming from someone who pays for the premium versiob. It will fail to capture huge chunks of audio. Awful. September 16 2020. Good days and terrible days with too mamy glitches in which chunks of audio transcription is missing. Paying for the subscription. Might just use new Word transcription feature.”

“Update: This app was getting increasingly better, punctuation improved and slang (gonna vs going to) getting picked up -- until recently. It no longer is doing the following: sending a monologue directly in the body of an email, it's now attachment only and separated by speaker, even when you make the selections to send as such. It used to be 300 mins/month on the free version, now it's limited to a number of conversations. Human support is non-existent, everything loops back to AI support.”

“Okay but not worth the "Pro" price. I won't be renewing. A strength is clear references and I find the information isn't as out of date as some others. Compared to ChatGPT with the output was similar. A pointless "Discover" page. The filters don't seem to work. I'd actually rather I could turn off that page entirely like I can in other services. I don't need yet another newsfeed to doomscroll. I removed a star due to them trying to trick me into giving them card details to turn on auto renew.”

Measured, not built

Payer pressure 0.07 clears the gate, but the complaint pattern is diffuse price resentment rather than an unsolved workflow a small team could out-execute. Recorded rather than pursued.

What this study cannot tell you

  • About 41% of substantive reviews are not matched by the taxonomy, so every percentage here is a floor, not a true rate. The miss rate is roughly uniform across niches, so comparisons between them still hold.
  • App-store reviews over-represent the daily user. Buyers complain on G2, Capterra and in churn calls, and those sources are not represented.
  • No recency weighting: a complaint from 2021 counts the same as one from last week, so some cited failures may already be fixed.
  • Coverage is uneven between stores; where an app is iOS-only in practice its share is computed from Apple data alone.
