In their words
“This app crashes ALL the time when it's not getting stuck on the loading screen. The only way to fix it is to delete and re-download it entirely. It's extra frustrating because each time I do this I have to come up with a new password as it never accepts the one I know is correct. Time-off requests and availability are confusing, and allows your manager to schedule you even on your approved days off which leads to miscommunication and conflict. Bad. Buggy. Battlestar Galactica.”

“Seriously this app is always stalling. How do you expect people to utilize this app if it is non-functional at least 85% of the time? Please sort it out. It gets stuck on the page where you can switch from shift details and daily schedule. The back menu does not work on either side and on the daily schedule menu you can't even click on employees information. When it says "notworking" on the bottom of that screen, it really means it. On two different phones, same issues.”

“App is just ok. It's super glitchy. Randomly logs me out. Sometimes notifications of messages don't alert me (yes, notifications are set properly). I'm also not a fan of the lack of desktop notifications. It won't alert you if someone messages you. You have to go to messages to even notice the message. Would love the feature to pin 📌 an important comment in a thread instead of having to scroll all the way back to find important info. A pro is the scheduling. Pretty easy to do and to follow.”

“I have checked everything the available information said to, I am not receiving notifications. I also can not find a clear answer if a notification is sent when your schedule is changed, nor does my app display many of the functions it claims to have. I have no option to write a message, and I have no top menu bar that is supposed to show me communications and prior notifications.”

Payer pressure is 0.03. The reviewers are staff, drivers, tenants or parents using software their employer or landlord bought. Their complaints are real and commercially inert: they cannot switch, cannot cancel and cannot be sold to. See the payer gate.
What this study cannot tell you
- About 41% of substantive reviews are not matched by the taxonomy, so every percentage here is a floor, not a true rate. The miss rate is roughly uniform across niches, so comparisons between them still hold.
- App-store reviews over-represent the daily user. Buyers complain on G2, Capterra and in churn calls, and those sources are not represented.
- No recency weighting: a complaint from 2021 counts the same as one from last week, so some cited failures may already be fixed.
- Coverage is uneven between stores; where an app is iOS-only in practice its share is computed from Apple data alone.
